Tir is an international English-language literary magazine founded in 2025, whose pilot issue will be released in the first half of 2026. We publish our short fiction and novelettes in both a podcast/audio format and digital text format on our website. Our issues will remain free and accessible to everyone, including complete ADA compliance, forever. The magazine is named for the ancient Armenian god of writing, Tir (or Dir). In Pagan Armenian mythology, Tir was the bookkeeper to the gods, tracking and recording humanity, bestowing power to artisans and writers, and guiding souls to the underworld. He was commonly depicted with a large triangular hat, which is referenced in our magazine’s logo.

Mission Statement
Accessibility
Discovering short fiction is often difficult. Most literary magazines publish on independent websites with slim margins, frequently trapping their fiction behind paywalls. This lack of discoverability makes it difficult for short fiction readers to find, or afford to read, excellent fiction.
Tir is designed to help bridge this gap. While we host text versions of our stories, we also publish them weekly on all major podcast platforms. Millions of people listen to audiobooks and fiction podcasts daily. Bringing our literature magazine to the podcasting world allows us to meet readers where they already are -- both established fans and new readers.
The audio and text versions of Tir will remain free forever. We believe strongly that final status should never inhibit people’s access to art.
Further, Tir aims to be 100% ADA compliant, always. Our website was designed following the ADA’s Guidance on Web Accessibility, and we encourage feedback on the usability of our site.
Quality in Presentation
In addition to accessibility, the editorial board at Tir believes strongly in the presentation of our authors’ work. We work with professional narrators, voice directors, and sound engineers to ensure that each recording is of the highest quality.
We work directly with authors to ensure their work is authentically translated to audio. This looks different for each piece of fiction, but can include notes on name pronunciations, character motivations, historical context, and any other notes that allow us to create the best version of their work.
